Concrete cutting across Qatar: where we work, and what changes by area

We cover the whole country from Old Salata in Doha. What actually changes between areas is not the price list, it is the structure, the access and the shift you are allowed to work.

We are based at Concord Business Center on Al Meena Street in Old Salata, Doha, and we work across Qatar around the clock. Travel time is rarely the interesting part of a quote. What matters is what you are cutting into and who is standing next to it.

Below is what we have actually met in each area, drawn from jobs we have delivered. If your site is somewhere not on this list, it is still covered. Call and ask.

Lusail

Lusail is post-tensioned almost everywhere. Nearly every tower put up there in the last fifteen years sits on PT slabs, and the core walls on the taller buildings reach 600mm to 700mm, past the 500mm a wall saw takes in one pass, so we cut from both faces and meet in the middle. We have worked the district for Drake & Scull on the Lusail Iconic Tower, and for QDVC, Alstom and Man Enterprise elsewhere in the city. Every penetration here gets a GPR scan first. It is not optional on PT.

West Bay

West Bay work is mostly occupied office towers, which changes the job more than the concrete does. Permits, a booked hoist slot, floor protection over finished carpet, noise limits agreed with the building manager, and a full clean before tenants arrive. The cutting takes the same time it would on an empty site. Everything around it does not, which is why West Bay scopes are usually night shifts.

The Pearl

Residential towers, occupied floors, and finished surfaces on every side of the work. Slurry gets managed at the cut face here, not mopped off a marble floor twenty minutes later: sheeting, absorbent barriers, bunding at the door, and bagged slurry where drainage is limited. PT slabs throughout, so scanning comes first.

Msheireb

Tight access and dense structure. Basement levels with restricted headroom mean standard core rigs will not stand up, so we run short barrels with extensions and reposition more often. Slower per hole, and worth knowing before you price the job.

Doha Industrial Area

This is where the high-volume work happens. Warehouse ground slabs, typically 150mm to 250mm with light mesh, open access, daytime shifts. One job here ran 180 penetrations through 250mm slabs in an empty unit. Per-hole cost drops sharply past about twenty holes in one location, because mobilisation and setup spread across all of them. Expansion joints in warehouse slabs are the other staple: a walk-behind saw covers 10 to 15 linear metres an hour at 50mm depth in C30.

Al Wakrah

More villa and low-rise work, and the concrete itself differs. Foundations here are often poured with local wadi aggregate, which behaves differently under a diamond bit than the C60 mixes in Lusail core walls. Aggregate type, cement content and compressive strength all decide which bond grade of diamond segment goes on the barrel.

Al Rayyan and Education City

Institutional and stadium work, including scopes delivered around the clock on the FIFA 2022 stadium programme. School and campus buildings usually mean working to a term calendar and around occupied blocks.

Al Khor

Northern coverage. Longer travel means mobilisation is a bigger share of a small scope, so batching penetrations into one visit matters more here than anywhere else.

Hamad International Airport

Floor sawing and core drilling delivered for Man Enterprise on airport expansion works. Airside and terminal environments mean permits, escorts and strict housekeeping.

Doha Metro

Diamond core drilling, GPR scanning and chemical anchor installation across stations for QDVC and Alstom. Rail infrastructure work is scan-first by default: structural penetrations near live systems leave no room for a strike.

Frequently asked questions

Do you work outside Doha?

Yes, across all of Qatar including Al Wakrah, Al Khor, Al Rayyan and Mesaieed. On longer trips mobilisation becomes a bigger share of a small scope, so batching penetrations into one visit saves more than it does inside Doha.

Which areas need a GPR scan before cutting?

Anywhere post-tensioned, which in practice means Lusail, West Bay, The Pearl and Msheireb, plus any multi-storey building put up in the last fifteen years. A 400MHz scan of one penetration takes 15 to 20 minutes. Cutting a stressed tendon stops that floor for weeks.

Can you work at night in occupied buildings?

Yes, and in West Bay and The Pearl it is usually the only option. Night work carries setup you do not need on an empty site: floor protection, agreed noise limits, a banksman for the hoist, and a full clean before tenants arrive.

How fast can you get to site?

Most enquiries get a first response inside two hours, and we mobilise 24/7 across Qatar. For urgent scopes inside Doha same-day is normally possible once the permit is in place.
